We love our work
and it shows in what we produce.
Dougal Penetito, Keystone’s founder, stands behind his company’s name.
“I believe that to have a strong company you need a great work ethic with a commitment from all parts of the business to work together to support each other, enabling a very high quality end product.”
Dougal began stone masonry in 2001, working in and around Queenstown. “I believe there is an art to what we do with stone… one of a kind timepieces to be admired for years and years to come.”
And with this focus and attitude Keystone Masonry was established in 2011.

"My wife Chris and I engaged Dougal to construct a stone wall on Lower Shotover Rd where we are restoring a late 1800’s ‘Islay cottage’.
Dougal was very patient and listened carefully to our requirements. He travelled throughout the district to inspect walls that we regarded as similar to our requirements.
We are very happy with the end result. Due to Dougal’s diligent work ethic the job came in on time and within budget. Dougal took the time and care to select the stone for the job.
When we were away form home for extended periods Dougal kept us updated with photos and progress.
We would gladly recommend Dougal for any stonework as he is a true craftsman."

"In recent times we have built a new house in Te Anau and contracted Keystone to undertake the stone work on the exterior of the house plus the two interior stone open fireplaces.
This building could well be described as high spec of unconventional design utilising log beam construction with stone work around the exterior to the window sills.
There was a requirement for all workmanship to be to the highest quality throughout the build.
Keystone delivered on all the requirements to ensure time frames were met and quality of workmanship was to a very high standard.
Staff were always punctual, polite, accommodating, tidy, diligent, honest and friendly. Stone for this build was river worn/washed (with limited flat sides) and had to be sourced 5 km. from the building site. Daily excursions were required to the quarry in the search for suitable corner stones which was a mission on its own plus a requirement for lateral shaped stone rather than round stone . This required picking over massive amounts of stone.
Keystone Masonry just got on with the job, and the finished product is a testimony to the quality of work that they can deliver.
Along with my wife Robynne, as owners of this building we would not hesitate in recommending Keystone for stone construction."
